Interior restoration

Mercedes-Benz 190SL 1956/si used seatsWe have received consignment with used seats for 190SL. Seats are almost complete, but condition of the spring cushions we could see just after dismantling of worn out external trim.

Seats were completely disassembled. Cushions were sent to upholsterer workshop, but corroded carcasses were dismantled till last rivet. Disassembled seats components were cleaned by glass pellets. Originally chromed components were sent to perfusion, but others to powdercoating.

Almost all wooden parts of the interior trim were available on the market. Missing parts we should manufacture ourselves.

Seat backrest arms arrived from re-chroming. All backrest frame elements were again assembled together. Restored backrest and cushion frames were repainted and sent to upholstery specialists for seat restoration.

New wooden interior parts and other trimming components received new leather finish. Front panel with new leather decorations was prepared for installation.

Restored door trim panel border decorations were attached to the doors.

 Soft top box was getting new trim. First under layer was glued onto whole surface of the soft top storage area. During the next step it was trimmed by leather layer. Soft top box was completely leather trimmed. 

Restoration of the seat cushions was completed.

Softtop box aluminium partition wall had several cracks so we had to weld it before new leather trim application.

Dashboard front edge moulding was repaired and polished before installation onto the body. Dashboard top panel surface was prepared puttying and grinding before leather trim was glued on.

Door trimming panels as well as carpets with coordinated colour leather edging were received for installation.
