Close investigation of the rear gearbox cover shows that hole in the cover grinded by loose bolts of the propshaft joint is a reason for serious oil leakage at the gearbox rear.
All gearbox components are cleaned, prepared for next steps of treatment (or already for installation) and stored in the dedicated box.
Gearbox housing has well survived tough times and after cleaning is going to preparation for external painting. Clutch housing also do not have damages so it is going straight to pellet blasting, then stored ready for assembly.
All cleaned, checked and evaluated transmission components are stored until further assembly actions. In the meantime housing goes to the external surface painting.
Using new rubber components and ball-bearing intermediate propshaft support is composed. New U-joints and other restored components are being installed on the restored shafts. All propshaft components are joint together and stored until installation on the vehicle.
Rear gearbox cover is made from magnesium alloy limiting permissible restoration methods to eliminate oil leakage through hole grinded by propshaft loosen bolts. Surface is grinded and cover plate is riveted on using intermediate sealing. New bearings, seals and gaskets are used to complete gearbox assembly.
