Trim components repair

Assessment of all chromed decorations and chromed parts was carried out.

Missing and completely damaged parts were entered to the required parts list.

Seriously damaged parts, like soft-top opening edge decorations were put aside to compare costs of repair and new parts, if such available.

Best samples of available chromed decorations were collected together for rechroming.

We brought up for usability assessment all available bumper components.

All items were completely disassembled and cleaned.

Most of main bumper parts already had been repaired though corrosion had been continued, so now there was comparable thicknesses of the bumper steel and decorative chrome layer.

After consultation with re-plating workshop it was decided that given components are not salvageable and replacement bumpers are required.

We started works on all chromed decoration preparation for re-plating. Most of decorations had serious damages – cracks and misshaping.

Cracks on parts made of brass were repaired by brass welding.

This soft top opening profile is missing flange almost along the whole length.

We self-manufactured missing flange from brass sheet.

Prepared flange was weld to the remnants of the decoration profile and grinded.

Side window decoration profiles were broken and we had to weld cracks before further activities.

We self-manufactured needed specific fasteners for installation of restored mouldings.

Restored decorations were installed along the passenger compartment side and rear edges for compatibility assessment.

We restored damaged coverings for engine hood hinges.

Front wings, coverings for engine hood hinges and windshield mouldings were installed for compatibility assessment.

We installed quarter window frames for compatibility assessment – this involves doors, cabriolet roof and windshield pillars.

All layers of cleaned windshield pillar decorations were installed for compatibility assessment.

All door decorations were fixed to the doors for tests.

All elements in the door openings were installed for compatibility assessment.

Broken brass cabriolet roof drip mouldings were welded and grinded.

All restored components were installed onto the cabriolet roof frame for assessment.

Components of the cabriolet roof locking mechanisms were cleaned and repaired before installation for assessment.

All prepared components were installed onto the roof frame.

Complete function of the cabriolet roof was assessed.

Number plate installation bases were damaged and needed straightening.

Both plates were repaired and prepared or re-plating.

Decorations of the luggage compartment lid were installed for compatibility tests.

All cleaned components were attached to the rear wall of the body for compatibility assessment.

Precise shape of the body was achieved ensuring exact fit of the chromed surrounds of the rear lamps without use of any filler.

Both doorstep embellishers had damages and we had to apply bass soldering to restore cracked areas.

Both doorstep embellishers were installed onto the body for compatibility assessment.

Inner and outer doorstep embellishers, as well as doorstep covers were installed for complete door assessment.

Bumper joint covers were cleaned prior to re-plating.

One of bumper covers was broken and misshaped. We welded cracks and restored shape of the bumper joint cover.

One of windshield coverings was broken.

Damaged area of the windshield covering was brass soldered and grinded.

Chromed seat elements were sent to specialist workshop for re-plating.

All most urgently needed for assembling chromed parts were sent for re-plating.

We gathered together all repaired chromed decorations and sent our parcel over for re-plating.

We restored shape of the radiator mask and prepared it for assembling as re-chromed parts arrive.

We repaired and mated to our restored dash panel upper dash trimmings.

Before final varnishing new and restored wooden decorations passed compatibility test assembled in place.

From re-plating workshop arrived batch of exterior decorations.

We received current sending containing re-plated structural components and small interior items.

We used restored components assembling crank handles.

We used restored components and new glass assembling interior mirror.

As a new task, we completed repair of the optional for the period decorations for the wheel arch valances.

After repair and before sending to the re-plating we checked fit of all valances to the respective wheel arches.
