Workshop Progress Report: Instrument Cluster & Dashboard Assembly Phase
The technical log tracks cockpit reassembly progress for the Steyr Daimler Puch 230GE restoration project.
This text describes photographs of the car assembling as work focused on the main instrument panel. This week we continue assembling the dashboard. According to the owner's request, we covered all plastic panels with leather, trimming the instrument binnacle housing in matching turquoise hide. Technicians disassembled, bench-tested, and polished the VDO gauges—including the speedometer, auxiliary multi-gauge, and central clock—before refitting them into the binnacle alongside the differential lock indicators. The wired cluster unit was then integrated into the dashboard fascia above the steering column and connected to the main wiring loom.
