Assembling and final tests

We continued assembling works on engine, engine components and chassis.

We installed onto the frame new body supports.

During reported period, we continued assembling of the engine, engine ancillaries and chassis, as well as started installation of the restored components onto the body.

Restored front-end components were installed on the engine.

Some sections of cooling system pipes were inevitable damaged by corrosion, so we self-manufactured and soldered on new items.

As soldering seams were grinded, we sent pipes for galvanizing.

Restored clutch was installed onto the flywheel.

We installed restored steering gear on the chassis.

As we attached restored wheels chassis again became mobile.

We installed restored power plant onto the frame.

We installed restored starter motor.

New components were used installing restored propeller shaft.

Onto the frame, we assembled restored control elements.

We attached lubrication line to the intermediate bearing of the propeller shaft.

We laid sound deadening mats over the firewall surface.

We welded and machined damaged housing of the heating system valve.

We attached to the body restored housings of the heat exchanger units.

We attached to the bottom of the body restored heat insulation screens.

We prepared for installation pull bar guides.

We installed heating system controls and hand brake handle mechanisms under the dash.

We manufactured missing bracket for windshield wiper mechanism.

We installed restored windscreen wiper mechanism.

We self-manufactured replacements for windscreen wiper mechanism.

We installed and adjusted all components of the windscreen wiper.

We installed restored voltage regulator.

Using restored parts, we assembled heating system fans.

We prepared for installation heating system control units.

Into the cab, we installed restored piping for heat exchanger, which placed under the driver’s seat.

We installed restored heat exchanger under the driver’s seat and connected it to the piping.

We continued installation of different restored components and wiring on the firewall in the engine compartment.

We attached restored mudguard rear partition plates to the body and applied protective resin over junctions.

During the period, we continued assembling of the engine and chassis using restored pre-assembled components. Just from the workshop, partly completed chassis was exhibited on RMW stand at annual world automobile show Technoclassica Essen 2015 gaining steady interest among visitors.

For trouble-free operation, we installed completely new wiring harness.

We had to buy door mechanisms from another Mercedes of the same era to acquire needed springs for replacement.

We detached body from the transport rig.

We preassembled re-plated bumpers.

We installed and adjusted rear bumper.

We installed restored headlights.

Fog lamps again back in place.

We installed new headliner.

Now we put into place new windscreen and all chromed items surrounding it.

During the period, we continued assembling of the components, as well as fitting up of the engine and body using restored pre-assembled components.

We installed and tested new number plate illumination lamps.

We prepared windscreen for installation.

We installed restored locks for detachable side windows.

We sourced new weather-strips of the special profiles for doors.

We installed new weather-strips in dedicated locations.

We installed restored radiator mask onto the body.

We installed new base plates and re-plated housings of the front turn indicator lamps.

We assembled turn indicator lamps and tested function.

Using received rubber profiles and re-plated frames, we assembled door windows.

Awe installed and adjusted door windows.

We prepared renovated door locking mechanisms for installation.

We installed door mechanisms and carried out necessary adjustments.

We preassembled front bumper installing bumper horns.

We attached and adjusted preassembled bumper to the vehicle.

We returned original manufacturer’s plates to the dedicated position.

We installed door parts of the stoneguards.

We installed renovated doorsill moulding with new rubber inlay.

We fixed in place doorsill pieces of the stoneguards.

We installed and adjusted side mouldings of the body.

We installed restored door wooden finishers onto the doors.

We laid sound deadening mats over the whole floor pan.

We put sound deadening mats onto dedicated locations in the luggage compartment.

We prepared for installation renovated aluminium profiles in the luggage compartment.

We precisely tailored new rubber mats for installation into luggage compartment.

We installed new moulded rubber doorsill top covers.

We continued assembling of the components, as well as fitting up of the engine and body using restored pre-assembled components.

We applied insulation over the driver’s compartment floor and tailored new fixed carpets.

We attached fixed trimming to the passenger compartment panels.

We put in place new parcel shelf trimming.

We attached restored trimming panels into the driver’s compartment.

We put fixed and removable carpets into the driver’s compartment.

We put fixed and removable carpets into the passenger compartment.

We installed restored fascia.

Restored instrument cluster returned into the position.

We installed pre-assembled glove compartment and top bow of the front panel.

As new weather-strip arrived we installed rear window.

We installed restored trimming panels of the doors.

We installed wooden decorations of the passenger compartment.

We assembled rear seat.

We installed new side trimming panels of the luggage compartment and produced new lid for storage recess.

We tailored and installed new rubber mats into luggage compartment.

We installed hazard-warning switch, which was not present on the original vehicle, but now is required by traffic safety regulations.
