Assembling and final tests

All preassembled and partly assembled components were shelved until arrival of necessary for further assembling new parts.

While body was treated in the paint shop we continued work on restoration of the components. Upon arriving of the body we started installation of the preassembled components.

We paired already tested power plant with front axle.

As body arrived from the paint shop we detached it from the transport rig and started assembling. 

We prepared restored “ponton” for immersion into the body.

We attached front structure using new rubber components.

We prepared rear axle for installation.

Restored rear axle as well as renovated propeller shaft were returned to dedicated position.

New cable harness was laid down into restored body.

New insulation was attached to the firewall.

Restored braking booster was installed in dedicated place.

We installed all hand brake components under the body.

We connected together rear part of braking system using new hoses.

We laid under the body new piping for brakes and fuel.

We positioned new pipes of the braking and fuel supply system in the engine compartment.

Fresh painted rims were paired with new tyres.

We installed restored wheels.

Delivered for installation fuel tank had numerous corrosion damages.

We cleaned and re-painted fuel tank before installation.

We installed fuel tank and connected it to restored tank breather system.

We attached and fixed new cable harness to the body.

We connected restored fuse box and other electrical items to the harness.

Cables were led to headlamp buckets and attached to the connectors.

Rear harness was led to fuel tank level sender and rear lamp housings.

We tested and installed delivered used relays.

We installed voltage regulator.

Starter motor was connected to the electrical wiring.

We continued assembling installing various components under the dash panel.

We installed restored windscreen demist air ducts.

Restored passenger side heater block was returned to the place.

We self- manufactured missing cable between voltage regulator and dynamo.

Now dynamo is connected to the recreated electrical circuit.

Using new and restored components we re-assembled fuel valve.

We installed restored steering column and connected it to the electrical circuit.

We installed restored engine hood lock.

We connected oil pressure gauge pipe and installed braking system expansion tank.

Restored windscreen wiper mechanism we installed in place.

We finished installation of the running gear and engine compartment components. We continued installation of the electrical appliances and assembling passenger compartment trimming.

We completed assembling of the front axle.

We completed installation of the rear axle.

We applied protective coating over lamp housing hollows.

We installed rear lamp assemblies furnished with new bulbs.

We assembled rear lamps.

We tailored missing front lamp sockets.

We installed main lamps and turn indicators.

We attached to the body new “eyebrows”.

We installed restored heater boxes, new cooling system piping and connected all ventilation system components together.

We installed and connected to the wiring restored horn signals.

We attached to the motor restored carburettors and inlet manifold.

We recreated all prescribed earth connections in the engine compartment.

We installed restored radiator and connected it to the cooling system outlets of the motor.

We used new and restored parts assembling pedal shaft.

We self-manufactured and installed missing battery cable bracket.

We installed new antenna.

We installed restored door sills and hung on doors.

As we installed door locks and strikers, we completed necessary door adjustments.

We fixed guides onto the door glasses.

We attached prepared door glasses to the lifting mechanisms and carried out initial adjustments.

We attached under-layer over the inner surface of the storage shelf for soft-top.

We glued leather layer over the surface of the soft top storage compartment.

We applied leather trimming over the top surface of the dashboard.

Applying leather trim we prepared restored dash panel for installation.

We painted and installed wing inserts. Before installation of inserts we applied protective coating over wing surface behind it.

We tailored and installed new exhaust piping.

We attached restored moulding over the leather trimming of the dash.

We assembled all door mechanisms and installed control handles.

We installed previously recovered chromed decoration profiles of the doors.

We prepared for assembling dash panel attaching leather trimming first. We installed all prepared dash controls and gauges.

We fixed assembled dash panel in place.

We installed restored steering column furnished with new light stalk and steering wheel.

Using supplied components we assembled turn indicator switch.

We installed preassembled turn indicator switch onto the steering wheel.

We prepared for installation all radio unit components.

We installed radio into the dashboard, as well as placed amplifier and speaker under the dash.

We produced attachment bracket similar to original one and placed emergency light switch under the dash in the position used in early cars for windscreen washer hand pump.

We completed assembling of the steering wheel installing new central button.

We prepared for installation restored glove compartment lid.

Using re-plated frame we assembled windscreen.

We installed restored windscreen.

We attached rear view mirror base and installed tension spike.

We attached fresh polished wire channel to the rear wall of passenger compartment.

We pre-assembled seat mechanisms and sent seat basements for trimming.

We preassembled gearshift stick mechanism.

We installed and adjusted gearshift mechanism.

We installed intake manifold and air filter housing, as well as attached cables of the hot and cold chocks.

We adjusted position of the tachometer drive to avoid interference of the drive cable with the leaver of the hand brake mechanism.

We installed and adjusted engine hood.

We continued assembling installing restored parts and trimming components.

We painted re-plated wheel decorations according to Mercedes traditions.

We polished new paintwork before installation of external decorations.

We installed new and re-plated external decorations of the body.

Using restored components we pre-assembled front and rear bumpers.

Before installation we covered further hidden surfaces by protective coating.

We installed and adjusted restored bumpers.

We installed restored stone guards and new body mouldings.

We installed restored fuel tank cap and connected number plate illumination lamps to the new wiring harness.

We remanufactured supplied bracket to suit available washer fluid bottle.

We installed pre-assembled sunvisors.

We finished assembling of the doors installing restored trimming panels and re-plated decoration elements.

We attached new carpet to the rear wall of the passenger compartment.

We installed re-trimmed separation wall of the soft-top storage compartment.

Restored loudspeaker casing was returned to the place.

As new pads were installed and ready to accommodate number plates we were ready to start pre-delivery test drive.
