Assembling and final tests

We detached body from our transport rig.

Front axle was attached to the body.

We installed rear axle and all related components.

New shock absorbers and renovated springs were used for installation of rear axle.

New handbrake cables were fitted under the body.

Firewall insulation pad was attached into engine compartment.

Firewall insulation from the passenger compartment side was fixed into the place.

Rear of the passenger compartment got new insulation.

Sidewalls were furnished with insulation mats.

Doors got at new sound deadening mats.

Over central tunnel was restored insulation consisting of several different layers.

Restored heater unit was installed under the dash panel.

Arrived current batch of parts ordered for assembling.

Restored main cylinder was installed in place and connected to the new brake piping.

All braking system components placed into engine compartment were joint together.

Restored wiper mechanism was installed in place.

Restored windscreen wiper drive was installed in place.

Braking and fuel pipes under the body were fixed as prescribed.

Using new and restored attachments fuel pump was installed in place.

Ignition system components were installed into engine compartment.

Electrical components placed on the firewall were connected to the wiring harness.

Restored air filter canister was installed in place.

Using restored parts we assembled quarter windows and adjustment gears.

Quarter windows were installed onto the doors.

Window cranking mechanisms and glasses were installed into the doors.

We assembled restored door locking mechanisms.

Restored and tested engine was immersed into the engine compartment.

Already installed components were connected to the engine.

Gearbox and other transmission components were installed in place.

Gearshift mechanism was assembled and connected to the gearbox.

We installed restored fuel tank.

We used additional fuel filter between fuel tank and fuel pump.

Restored front piece of the exhaust system was attached to the engine.

We manufactured and installed new exhaust piping.

Cabriolet roof frame’s front bow was prepared for soft top assembling.

Repaired wooden parts of the soft-top frame were attached to place.

As all fluids were topped-up, we started the engine and performed initial adjustments of various systems. Partly assembled vehicle were delivered for final painting of all external body panels.

Front wings were attached using prescribed intermediate layers.

During assembling adjustment of front wings and engine hood was carried out.

Restored handles and new door strikers facilitated final adjustments of the doors.

We installed rear lamps and decorations of the rear end.

Headlamps were installed on the front wings.

Restored handle and Mercedes star were attached to the luggage compartment lid.

We installed new windscreen and fresh decoration surround.

External chromed decorations were installed around the windows.

Soft-top storage box received leather trimming.

Pre-assembled control unit of the ventilation system was installed behind the dashboard.

Control vires were attached and adjusted to the heater valves.

Reconstruction of the foldable top we started adjusting restored soft-top frame to the body.

Inner layer of the soft-top was attached to the frame.

Interior lamp was installed in place.

We prepared soft-top frame for padding installation.

Soft-top padding providing required shape of the roof was installed onto prepared frame.

New soft top hooding was installed in place.

Using restored parts we assembled door locking mechanisms.

We nailed on roof finishing moulding and completed adjustment of the side windows.

We prepared seat belt attachment points for installation of the mechanisms.

We used new and restored parts for assembling of the body trimming panels.

We installed restored body trimming panels.

We used restored wooden and chromed parts for assembling of the dashboard components.

We installed restored wooden fascia and attached control knobs on dashboard.

Restored instruments were inserted into restored wooden housing and fixed onto front panel.

We put anti-squeak pads on windscreen decoration woods prior to installation.

We installed restored dashboard wooden components.

We tested installation of new wiring and light signalling devices.

We tailored and installed new exhaust system, finished assembling and prepared braking system for the use, as well as completed assembling of the interior.

We assembled from pre-produced components exhaust system.

We installed restored rear view mirror.

Re-plated doorstep decorations we attached to the body.

Doorstep stone guards before installation we protected by elastic resin.

We manufactured new side panel of the luggage compartment and installed fuel fumes collecting vessel.

Restored jack we finally returned into the storage position.

Restored radio returned into position on dashboard.

New radio antenna fixed into position on the wing.

Restored under wing panels we fixed into the place.

We attached restored side trimming panels, installed seat belts and glued over prescribed areas new carpets.

Restoration of the rear seat backrest was finished as armrest mechanism returned into place.

Recreation of the rear seat was completed.

We glued in place carpets and installed side-trimming panels under the dash.

Minimal modern safety requirements are prescribing installation of hazard warning device, which was not on offer during manufacturing period of this car.

We completed assembling of the restored dashboard. 

Restored steering wheel we furnished with re-plated horn ring and new central pad.

We installed preassembled front row seats.

Using new and restored components, we assembled radiator mask.

We painted inner surfaces of the re-plated bumpers according to Mercedes traditions.

We finished assembling of the exterior installing prepared radiator mask and bumpers.

We renovated and installed turn indicator stalk.

All systems were filled up and passed initial tests.

We started our test drive program to discover and eliminate possible hidden defects.

We checked all restored components upon return from every test run.

We finished our pre-delivery test drive program. As all final adjustments were completed, car was handed over to the owner for the pleasure of summer driving.
