The technical Mercedes Benz 190SL restoration at Riga Master Workshop has reached the critical external finishing stage within our climate-controlled spray booth. This week’s report documents the transition from surface preparation to the application of the final aesthetic layers.Following the successful application of the base paint coat, our technicians have applied the first layer of the varnish (clear coat) across the entire body shell. This initial layer serves to seal the pigment and provide the first level of depth to the vehicle's silver finish. As part of our commitment to factory-correct detailing, we also painted wheel arches in car color, ensuring a uniform finish that extends into the structural recesses of the chassis.The project has now entered a mandatory stabilization phase. Now we will wait couple of days to allow the solvents to fully evaporate and the varnish to harden sufficiently. Once the surface is technically stable, we will grind and polish the car body using graduated abrasives to eliminate any microscopic orange peel or surface dust. This intensive labor is required before second varnish layer coat apply, which will provide the final deep-gloss finish and durable UV protection characteristic of a Riga Master Workshop restoration.These multi-stage technical works are essential for achieving a concours-level result that meets the highest international standards for classic Mercedes-Benz automobiles. #190sl #w121
