Mercedes Benz 280SL w113 - Restoration / 2026-03-17
The technical Mercedes Benz 280SL w113 restoration at Riga Master Workshop has progressed to the completion of the primary surface remediation phase. This week, we completed the cleaning of the car body, achieving a medically clean bare-metal state across all structural surfaces. The body shell was first thermal cleaned to remove original sound deadening and undercoating, followed by a comprehensive chemical cleaning by immersing it in a specially formulated acidic bath to eliminate deep-seated oxidation. As documented in the photographs, the chassis is now technically prepared and ready to undergo cathodic dip priming (KTL) to provide permanent anti-corrosion protection before structural metalwork begins. #w113 #280slpagoda #280sl

The technical reassembly of the Steyr Daimler Puch 230GE restoration has focused on the complex integration of the vehicle's door systems. This week, our technicians successfully assembled the doors and prepared them for installation on the car by installing fully refurbished internal locking mechanisms, latch assemblies, and tension springs. As documented in the photographs, we also integrated the restored exterior door handles and precisely aligned the mechanical linkage rods to ensure factory-standard operational tolerances. Concurrently, the heavy-duty door hinges were mounted to the chassis pillars, ensuring proper structural alignment before the final hanging of the door panels. These completed sub-assemblies mark a significant step toward finalizing the vehicle's cabin enclosure. #puch #230GE #w461

The technical Mercedes Benz 250SL w113 restoration at Riga Master Workshop is proceeding with the systematic dismantling of the vehicle's front section. This week, our technicians focused on removing exterior brightwork and lighting assemblies, including the front bumpers, radiator grille, and headlight units. As documented in the photographs, we have also disassembled the internal headlight buckets and associated wiring harnesses. This phase allowed for a technical assessment of the front valance and radiator supports, which revealed expected surface oxidation. All removed components have been cataloged and placed in organized storage to facilitate future refurbishment to factory standards. Here are the photos of the process. #250SL #w113 #RMW
