In 1983, the V8 range received a number of substantial improvements, which included revised heating and ventilation controls, and it could be easily identified by its BBS alloy wheels. Aston Martin later introduced an updated, fully realised model, designated the Series V, in January 1986, which featured Weber/Marelli electronic fuel injection with a restyled flat bonnet. It would remain in production until October 1989, marking the final, most highly refined version of the model, which featured improved aerodynamics and could now be identified by attractive Ronal 16 inch wheels.
The fuel-injected Series 5 cars were introduced in January 1986 at the New York International Auto Show. 405 Series 5 cars were built before production ceased in 1989. The Volante Series 2 received the same changes; 216 were built.
