Workshop Progress Report: Sound Deadening & Insulation Phase
The technical update documents the interior preparation stage for the Mercedes Benz 300SEL3,5 w109 1972 restoration project.
We finished the car body painting and started assambling process. This time we continueassembling process with the sound isolation. Rather than using degradable factory bituminous sheets, we made the choose to use the modern materials instead of the original bitumen cardboards and felt. Technicians mapped out custom templates across the freshly painted floorpan, transmission tunnel, rear seat bulkhead, inner rear wheel arches, and trunk floor. Multi-layered, foil-backed acoustic dampening sheets were precision-cut, roll-pressed into the body ribs, and sealed to optimize cabin insulation and moisture protection.
