In 1957, Chrysler introduced a brand-new design theme across its entire product line. The Virgil Exner-conceived “Forward Look” translated into long, low sleek-looking cars with sweeping rear fins, a look that was perfect for the flagship New Yorker and lasted through to a major restyling for 1962. After the 1959 switch from the Hemi to the lighter and more compact 413 CI wedge V-8, the 1960 New Yorker marked the change to unibody construction utilizing front and rear sub frames while retaining front torsion bars and Hotchkiss rear suspension with outboard-mounted leaf springs.
Chrysler built only 556 New Yorker convertibles in 1960.
This year had unibody construction, the carry-over RB engine had an output of 350hp (260 kW).
